Collected from Kemmerer,Wyoming,U.S.A.
A stunningly well preserved Herring fish relative, from the Fossil Butte member of the Green river Formation.
There are two species within the group the alta, and this the longer and slimmer Eocaena,they both survived on Algae,and were preyed upon by the larger more aggressive fish of the lake such as Diplomystus!
The fish measures 99mm x 30mm and including the Siltstone matrix is 126mm x 88mm.
