From the Eocene period approximately 40million years ago.
Collected from La Rochelle in France.
This is an amazing piece ,and it tells the story of a subterranean storm surge ,the sea floor was so rough it was breaking up anything not anchored to the sea bed and really smashing and breaking things apart .The resulting deposit once the storm had settled was preserved ,as we see it now in this fantastic snapshot of history.
The specimen contains Multiple crinoid ossicles (sea Lilly stems) and lots of tiny broken up starfish material .
The entire piece of limestone measures 96mm x75mm.
