One single coral,part of a larger colony which has broken away and been preserved on its own
The dissepiments are very evident and display well,at the head of the coral,and the whole specimen has been air abraded,still on the inferior oolite matrix.
This species used to be known as Thecosmilia gregaria (Mcoy) but has now been reassigned.
The coral measures 26mm x 22mm and including the base cut matrix is 34.7mm tall and 53.6mm wide.
