From the Jurassic bajocian inferior oolite.
Collected from the upper reaches of the Fiddler's Elbow quarry, Brockworth, Gloucester, UK.
This is a palm-sized complete coral colony.
The base of the colony has been preserved, and the specimen has grown in one particular direction. This is the result of strong currents.
This type of growth formation is an unusual occurrence in the Cotswold's.
The entire specimen measures 102.5mm x 66.1mm
