From the Jurassic,Hettangian,Planorbis zone.
Collected from Doniford bay,Somerset,England.
An absolute stunner, this is what the Americans call Ammolite, but this has the rarer green colour, most are red.
The colours are due to layers of Aragonite preservation with Pyrite,Calcite and Silica.
It is now now illegal to collect from this location, so they are about to become very rare, thankfully i have had this one since the early 1980s.
The ammonite measures 20mm and including the shale matrix is 62mmx 41mm.
